Viterra Inc.
Vancouver, British Columbia
Project Year: 2009

Viterra Inc. owns and operates the Pacific Elevators Terminal in Vancouver, BC. Part of Viterra’s operation is the production of feed pellets from grain dust and screenings. The Pellet Plant was in need of upgrades in order to meet market demands in both production rate and product quality. Viterra engaged MG Engineering to upgrade and automate the Pellet Plant. The project consisted of budget preparation, detailed engineering, procurement and construction inspection for the replacement of the existing hammer mills, pellet cooler, pneumatic and screw conveying systems, bucket elevators, and control systems.
The major parts of the project included:
  • Structural engineering of new support steel, stairways, access platforms, and foundations.
  • Process engineering assistance.
  • Mechanical engineering including production of general arrangement and equipment layout drawings.
  • Duct layout and support drawings.
MG Engineering prepared a budget estimate for the project in 2009 and was awarded the detailed engineering in 2010. Construction began in March 2011, and was completed in September 2011.
