Boiler Feedwater Treatment System

Alberta Newsprint Company
Whitecourt, Alberta
Project Year: 2006

ANC was experiencing problems with scale and mineral build up in the feed water system for the re-boilers. A GE Reverse Osmosis Filter system was chosen to treat the feed water, providing 300 gpm of clean water to the reboilers.
The equipment installation included a chemical feed system (Biocide & Antiscalant), pre-filter system, Reverse Osmosis skid, and the design of an R.O. filter cleaning skid. The main component was the Reverse Osmosis skid; which consisted of a high pressure pump and 12 Membrane housings. This R.O. Filter was installed to intercept boiler feed water after the existing mill water sand filters. The skid treats the water and pumps it to the existing boiler feed water storage tank.

The Project included the design and installation of equipment pads, mechanical installation supervision, piping design and construction supervision.
